Comments: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has been all the rage lately; it's consistently been in the top ten on Amazon over the past few weeks, so that made me even more intrigued to see the film. And it's a pretty solid thriller, and mostly lived up to its hype. The film is a bit long in the tooth at times, and often reminded me of David Fincher's Zodiac (perhaps that's why he was tapped to helm the American version due out December of next year). There's a lot of investigative work which tends to draw the film out a bit; it's also got a very long first act (but that in turn helps give the characters an extensive background and depth). It's really well directed, and features a great score and excellent cinematography. I'm very intrigued to see the remaining two chapters, which have already been filmed (although the end of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo really isn't that open-ended; after reading the summary of The Girl Who Played with Fire it seems as though our fearless leads embark on another, separate investigation). Anywho, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a solid film that may or may not live up to your personal hype. Regardless, it's still good.
