Comments: One of the main reasons why The International got such mixed reviews is that there's no real emotion in the film, and there's no reason to care about Clive Owen. He's given very little in the way of a back story, and you never see any scenes where he's not working. I understand that, but I think the first half of the film is crafted incredibly well, so it doesn't matter what Owen's back story is because the viewer is too caught up in the proceedings. The International then explodes into an amazing shootout at the Guggenheim, which is one of the best I've seen in awhile and the high point of the film. Sadly, the film slows down considerably after that and we're left with a decent, but ultimately unsatisfying finale. The International is definitely worth a watch, and one that will hold your attention through the end. Especially if you're a Clive Owen fan and enjoy when he shoots people.
